It's amazing to me how Mollydooker can start with any varietal and turn it into "jelly in a bottle". Nearly opaque purple color. Dark cherry, black berry, prune.

Un-twisted and tasted over the next 24 hrs. Very dark ruby, 95% opaque with medium stain in the very slow legs. Upon opening, huge brambly and confected nose of sweet date, plum, currant, whisky, and a very youthful, green vegetal note. That green note completely blew off with air overnight and the wine settled down quite e bit. Initially just a huge ripe fruit pie on the palate, but after a day, it actually turned into a more proper representation of Merlot. It's still huge and hot, but not nearly as clumsy. I'd give it another year and it could show better stitching. 5+10+15+7 = 87

Mollydooker - An Evening With Sparky Marquis (Lincoln Park Binnys Tasting Room): Solid wine that unfortunately was the least impressive of the night. At 88 points, that is definitely saying something about the quality of Sparky's wines. Fruit forward red berry fruit, particularly cherry, and some red currant. Lighter intensity nose. Some greenness on the finish, and some minty green tannins, which are medium. Round. Balanced and with some complexity. A solid but not memorable merlot.

Love this wine! Lots of cherry and pepper on the nose. Big juicy fruit and oak on the tongue. Nice tannins, not too acidic.
