Flowers and black fruits (very much that smell many California pilots have), earth, kirsch, smoke, and some strawberry on the nose. Boysenberry, flowers, spice, earth, cassis, saline, and a little tar on the palate. Ends a touch bitter with brine and tannins spreading through the mouth. Good acidity. Really interesting and really good. 89-90

Keep going back to this wine again and again. This tempranillo / monastrell blend offers a hint of petrol and olive brine on the nose, which blooms into a lush, juicy mouthful on the palate. Juicy does not equate overripe here, however, with pronounced black pepper and mild earthiness overriding any specific fruit. Satisfying by the glass on its own, or with pepper-crusted ahi.
