  • Just as delicious as previous bottles. Floral and clean on the nose. Finesse rather than power, very good balance overall. Slightly stemmy but in a good way. Lovely wine. Should have bought more! Put the last 2 bottles into long term storage facilities so I won't touch them. (A)

  • Similar to previous bottle. Took a bit of aeration to show up. Clean and balance but could have more intensity. 0.13 ha of land. Vines planted in 1968. 36 hl/ha. 50% new oak barrel. 13% alcohol. Bottle #654 out of 942. Tiny production. A lot of useful information on the label! Drinking this wine with "The Sound of Silence" in the background, everything seems to match seamlessly. Bizarre. I want the 1967 Alfa Romeo Spider in the movie "The Graduate". (A-)

  • Good nose, floral and clean. Rose petal and stem on the nose, almost sweet. Fresh acidity of the vintage, very lively. This wine is about finesse rather than power, not very long or big but very good balance overall. No hint of alcohol with slightly drying mid-palate. Hint of oak at finish. Picked up the 6-pack for a song last year during close out sales. Pretty good QPR. (A-)

  • Dinner with Monthly Group at Level 2 (Level 2, The American Club, Singapore): Not quite as breathtaking as the last time round, but this was still an excellent wine. It had such a pretty nose, with high-toned, perfumy accents of violets and fragrant spice floating around a core of red cherries, sour plums and sweeter strawberry jam aromas. With time in the decanter, a touch of savoury herb and a tiny hint of oak drifted out amidst the fruit. Really lovely. The palate was rather tighter than the bottle we tried last year, showing a bit more structure and grip. It had the same lovely clarity and to its pure tones of dark cherries and strawberries that I remembered from the last time round, but there was also a super firm spine of fine tannins and orangey acidity undergirding the fruit, carrying the wine in a firm grip all the way into a lovely long finish, with bits of chicory and cinamon spice peeking out at the end. Lovely depth, wonderful clarity, elegant length - still a baby, but this was very enjoyable indeed. This may well be one of those wines that shows well throughout its life. I am looking forward to drinking my bottles over the next 10 years or so.

  • Meet the man - Nicolas Potel (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck @ Paragon): Alcohol :: 13%
The Champeaux is good, but the Petit Monts is clearly a step up in term of overall harmony, purity and finesse, if not the power. Absolutely intriguing here with its exotic Asian spices and rose petal aromas intermixed with sweet strawberry and red cherry as well as autumn leaves. Excellent precision and focus here, elegant and feminine with power well hiding underneath. I especially enjoy the creamy, velvety texture and the complexity, purity of fruits is absolutely first class. Great persistent on the very long, mineral and spices infused finished. 92-93+
