Retail $12. Under cork. From the bottle: "50% Touriga Franca, 20% Touriga Nacional, 30% field blend." No indication what makes up the field blend. This is a great representation of what I see as a large segment of the Portuguese wine sphere: an inexpensive, tasty, uncomplicated easy sipper. Red and dark fruit with a little funk (I love the funk), a bit of spice, and plenty of tartness. All that for twelve bucks? Sign me up.
This was my Easter weekend wine pick: a fantastic red wine blend from the House of Dow in the Douro wine region in Portugal. The label mentions it’s 50% Touriga Franca, 20% Touriga Nacional and 30% field blend. Dark purple colour in the glass. I got aromas and flavours of wild berries. Paired well with Portuguese duck rice. Classy label. 14% alcohol.
This wine is produced by the Symington family from grapes grown in vineyards that traditionally support the House of Dow. It reflects the new style of wines from the Upper Douro Valley where the region’s wealth of grape varieties, mature vineyards and modern winemaking have been successfully combined. For over two centuries the name of DOW has been associated with the finest Port from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley.

Dark violet color. Doesnt smell strong... stone fruit, leather and biscuit. Plum, current, cherry bright acid. Slight oak. Well balanced.
