The 2006 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is a very masculine expression of Pinot Noir. Bramble fruits, licorice, menthol, and Christmas spices. Full bodied with powerful tannins that are have this fantastic fine grained texture. You can drink this today, but it has a very long life ahead of it.

The 2006 Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares features a masculine and layered nose of sage, baking spices, licorice, menthol, and the small bit of red fruit that remains. On the palate, menthol and black pepper are dominated by massive tannins that are still there even after an all day decant. A long savory finish is punctuated by tannins that stick to the roof of your mouth. With five left, I will wait another 5+ years before consuming another.

Opened a good 8h before dinner. Lovely nose upon opening but very tight on palate. Left aerated until served. Quite masculine wine (med+ tannins, med+ acidity, med+ bod y and alcohol), dense and textured. Some spices on nose and palate. Long and concentrated. Grand Cru wine yes but out of this world, no. Got 4 left, will hold and may improve for another 10 year easily.

This is drinking well, but should continue to get better over the next few years.
