Red fruited nose with some earth and a bit of heat. Lots of acidity, iron and doesn't really have the weight to carry the acid. Still very young, pretty and pure. Not sure if this is asleep or just doesn't have the material to go.
This one is a puzzle. Seems closed and hard to approach, but certainly not tired - on the contrary. Some evolution on the nose, but with fruit and sève too. The structure seems rather firm for the weight of the wine; good length but dried fruit. Is this going down the hill or is it just in a dumb phase? The next day there is more evolution on the nose, the structure is bolt upright, but the sense that the wine will dry out remains. A bit Giroud-like (the pre-2002 style). Is there maybe a lot of bottle variation? Opinions seem to differ wildly. But to be honest I still have to taste a Potel wine that I find attractive and I have tried some big names. Maybe I have been very unlucky?
