Community Tasting Notes (12) Avg Score: 92 points

  • Completely different than the last bottle from 2019, which I scored a 94. This was earthy and funky from the start. By comparison to the last bottle this was slightly flawed. Earthy and funky aromas. Some dark cherry and soil flavors, but just not the charm of the last bottle. I won't officially score this, but if I hadn't had the prior bottle this was an 88 at best.

  • Very good by itself after a couple hours. I’d expect this to go for quite a while longer (10 years). First clos st denis for me, but what I would expect from the appellation. Approachable with friendly spices and a beguiling, long finish.

  • Enjoyed this remainder of the bottle after a coravin glass much more that the first time around. Had a nice light strawberry / cherry thing going on. Some complexity - maybe a bit of mushroom. Can sort of see the value but still not convinced it's worth holding for 10 years just to get to this point.

  • Coravin glass - Have had a handful of "decent" red burghs that have been taking up my very limited storage space for years so thought I'd try and see what I should do with these. Bought these in my early collecting days before I realized these weren't my thing but curious to see if they've aged well and align with my changing preferences towards more naunced pinots. The verdict - inconclusive. I sort of like where this may be heading. Fragrant nose but a bit acidic which hides the fruit. There's a slightly funky flavor in there, not bad just different. Overall it's reasonably interesting in where is this going kind of way. That said I'm not sure it's worth the time, money, or storage space to find out. I think my sampling of 2006-2008 are at least on the early side of their drinking windows to start clearing them out.

  • Still very primary, even after leaving it in the glass for 6 hours. I liked this & it straddles the Cote d'Or spectrum as I'd expect a Morey to do. The nose & finish are a lot more profound currently than the impact on the palate. I'd expect this to go at least 10 more years.
To me, this is qualitatively similar to the Lignier's Faconnieres - which is a good thing.
