  Showing some age but in a good way. Color fading and tannins pretty much melted. Dried red fruit and sweet leather character.

  Life left in this du Pape. Went well with pot roast. Well integrated light tannins.

  A private tasting and dinner at a friend's (Amsterdam): Magnum. Warm and rich, vinous, undergrowth, plums and raisins, spices, ripe but does not lack balance or freshness even if acidity is obviously low, ripe tannins, good length. A creditable 2003.

  Needed a couple hours to really show. Early lots of pepper ,fruit and alcohol but it warmed up, rounded out and was a very enjoyable.

  Dark fruit subtle licorice, slight sweet tobacco on finish. Had with gas grilled steak
