This one was excellent.. Looks youthful, dark garnet with little to no bricking. Beautiful Pinot perfume of cherry and earth on the nose. On the palate, muscular dark cherry fruit over a background of herby licorice and mint, finishing with medium soft acidity and youthful tannins. Not quite up to the Grand Cru name, but I paid village wine money for it and it was well worth the price and then some.
Only in Burgundy can all the following statements be true at the same time: -Grand Cru -underperforming -$60 -delicious -great value

Pale red color, brick rim, very clear. Pinot fruit, a hint of game, perhaps menthol, burnt sugar on the initial nose. More air delivers smoked bacon and mushroom notes. On the palate, this wine underperforms for a 2005 grand cru. It offers thin Pinot fruit notes, earthiness, a hint of wood and enough ripeness to at least carry the wine with the cheese soufflé it was paired with tonight. But it lacks depth and complexity for the pedigree of the vineyard.

Nose of fermentitious red cherry on the nose, shows some age. Diving in smooth medium bodied entry, washing cleanly through to a medium length finish. Notes of half forest floor and red fruit, running a middle ground between new and old world almost. Smooth, but not worth the price.

excellent wine, but worth drinking over time to allow it to evolve.
