  • Deep golden, medium intensity. Mature, medium intensity nose. Slightly oxidized, yellow apples, lager beer. On the palate dry, high acidity, medium body. Yellow apples, pineapple. Some (nice) oxidation. Waxy texture. Long aftertaste with petroleum and dried herbs, wormwood.

  • Deep, saturated yellow pushing towards golden. The nose is primarily a riesling-like petrol/rubber aroma, along with some lightly oxidative calvados/apple notes, sourdough, and wet rocks. Medium body, acid, and finish, with flavors of stewed apple, pineapple, lime, and minerals. Wouldn't call this a crowd pleaser, but certainly a different and interesting wine for the geeks.

  • Tasted blind at Oinoscent, bottle was decanted for 30 minutes.

    The wine shows bright clear golden colour.
    The wine shows high intensity of oxidative notes, nutty, a few floral notes, almond, curry spice mix, grapefruit peel and quince.
    The wine shows oxidation flavours in the palate, grapefruit again with lemon, acetaldehyde burn, light to medium body, almond, nutty, medium to long finish.
    My guess was Jura.

  • Pale lemon yellow color. Very complex and nicely developed nose with rich aromas of mirabelle plums, ripe red apples, creaminess, some smoky characteristics, a little bit of browned butter, a hint of almonds and an oxidative touch of nuttiness. Really lovely and nuanced overall impression - you just love to keep on sniffing the glass because of the nuances that come and go. The wine feels even a bit more developed on the palate with layered flavors of creaminess, waxy characteristics and oxidative nuttiness along with notes of browned butter, bruised apples, some ripe citrus fruits, light smoky notes, a little bit of apple peel bitterness, a hint of slivered almonds and a touch of steely minerality. There is really a lot going on here. The wine comes across as full-bodied and even a bit slightly, but while it felt quite soft and only medium in acidity at first, you start to realize that the wine is surprisingly high in acidity after all - the rich, ripe fruit just masks it well. However, thanks to this high acidity, the wine feels very balanced and well-structured. The finish is complex, balanced and nutty with developed flavors of slightly oxidative nuttiness, buttery and creamy notes, some tart green apples, a little bit of citrus fruits, a hint of steely minerality and a touch of smoke.

    This was a wonderful example of beautifully developed Furmint - the oak that was still somewhat noticeable the last time I tasted the wine had completely integrated with the fruit, leaving behind rich notes of butter, cream and nuttiness. However, no real wood flavors were nowhere to be seen and the fruit was still nicely to the fore. Overall the wine seemed like it had reached its plateau of maturity and although it will most likely keep there for some years, I see no point in further aging. Very lovely and with its great combination of developed fruit, integrated oak, bright minerality and good acidity, this is a terrific alternative to a good white Burgundy with some age to it. Great value at only 11,99€.
