  • Second bottle tasted, a much better showing. Quite reduced nose first, which then became typical suchots on day 2 with attractive sweet spices and red berries, but reduction somewhat slightly persisted in the background which I think is a defect after such amount of air. The mouth is utterly complex, displaying an array of red and blue flavors, dense mid palate, and tightly wound over itself, with a long and strikingly complex finish. This wine is indeed very complex but not easy going, it will need many more years in the cellar, at least another 5 years.

I would bet the fruit may be just enough to absorb the lees component but it will prevail over a very long period, and there will never be the typical suchots generosity in this wine, but rather an utterly complex and light on its feet wine, yet full of elegant power, so I perfectly understand other critics as this wine is peculiar. A portraiture of this winemaker.

  • Nez merveilleux, mystérieux. En bouche c'est moins puissant.

  • Some reduction but not too bad. Great spice and grip. A bit short and tannic on the finish but love the energy.

  • Walnut skin, kernel aromas. Smells expensive. Modestly structured. Medium minus tannin, pretty red fruited palate. The walnut skin/kernel doesn’t seem unlike a little matchstick. Real, real nice.
