  • First wine of the evening and meant to stand out on its own. This is a very well made wine. Has been practically in one spot since it was purchased at retail. Needed about 30 minutes to figure itself out. Had a nose of blackberry, tobacco and truffle. Entry is black licorice, overripe black and blue fruits and a hint of smoked tobacco. Middle turns darker, a little earthier, bramblier. Finished with a fine grit tannin and there was quite a bit of sediment in this bottle. I think the best time for this wine was probably in 2019, although not too shabby now. Did the job as a complex, aged, well-made wine to stand on its own. If you have these in your cellar, chop chop! It's time to open them! Rated this 92 about 1 yr ago and that rating is still what I would give it today.

  • Disappointment. Some improvement with time after opening, but please I have only one.

  • Really wasn't sure what to expect with this one. I have a bottle of this very vintage, and almost expected this one to have some problems. Much to my surprise, this is a very nice black fruit dominant wine with a hint of green pepper and green olive. Medium++ bodied. There was a little bit of tobacco leaf somewhere in the swirl of things, and finished rather soft with nicely integrated tannins. A very balanced wine. I do feel as if this one is probably right at the top right now, and will not get any better. For the price, this one does well.
