Uncorked and poured immediately. Dark ruby color. Nose of black plum, earth, licorice, leather. Rich, earthy, full-bodied layers of red raspberry, bing cherry, brambles, anise, pepper, and hints of garrigue on the palate. Lithe, muscular, ripe wine saved from being ponderous by moderate acidity and early notes of complexity on the finish. Certainly striking but almost syrah-like in character. A wine reflective of the heat of the vintage.

(Rue Dumaine, Dayton) Took about an hour to really bloom into a fruit-driven, yet fully integrated and balanced expression. Lots of dark fruits with a nice modulation and mossy notes which were counterpoint. Not much depth or venturing into other zones, but did its thing really well.

Dark ruby. Nose of Indian spice, cinnamon, pine needles after about 1/2 hour. Palate of dark fruits, licorice, blackberries, anise. Really quite tight even after 1 hour. Just too young I suspect. Good potential
