  • I still remember tasting this on release, and it seems to be progressing, albeit slowly, along the expected track. Has the telltale Noval anise and tar notes, along with dark fruit, moderate sweetness, tannins are present but fine and have resolved well enough to make this very drinkable. For those who like their Port more resolved, this has a long way to go, probably another 20 years. But for those of us who appreciate more youthful notes, it’s in a perfect place right now.

  • Nothing much more to say except this is bottle #9 opened on New England’s coldest day of the year.3 more to go

If you don’t yet know vintage port, this will get you hooked. Worth the splurge if you can find itt.

So be VERY careful about opening and decanting. ALWAYS a challenge but not always a success.

  • Drinking up. Four bottles left and unlikely to improve further. What better wine to round off Christmas? I have yet to have a clean cork extraction from a Noval. It slips into the bottle with the slightest of pressure. Easy enough to decant cleanly. There is a huge crust so necessary anyway. Irritating, but a small price to pay forso luscious and mature a port

  • Dark blackberry and plum fruit with a touch of licorice in the mid-palate. A very slight indication of the wine starting to show some evolution beyond the primary dark fruits. It is certainly open for drinking right now and tastes very good. It will still just continue to improve. Impressive vintage for this wine. Stunning!
