At this time, it was strong apple aroma and flavor. Some honey although this is not a sweet wine, like a Sauternes. As we drank it, the apple flavor was less intense. Really nice after dinner when you don’t want something sweet.

Light amber color, slightly oxidative. Not a lot of sweetness here, which was more apparent with the solid core of acid. Nutty and a little bitter on the palate, but in an interesting way.

What a difference a year and a half makes since my last tasting. No fruit left despite a still vibrant, dense orange color in the glass. The forever finish is marred by a bitterness which is quite off putting.
A wonderful sensorial experience for about a half glassful -- wow, can you believe this wine is close to 50 years old? -- but there is little motivation to refill the glass. Gone and not going to get any better.

This bottle was way past it's prime, unfortunately. Tired with almost no fruit. Mostly bitter tea notes. Pretty low RS for a Coteaux du Layon. Didn't drink.
