Still lush and primary with dark fruits and tobacco with the slightest whiff of menthol in the background. Very fruity and brooding without being too strident on day one. Day two brings a reductive nose and some overall mellowing of the palate. This wine really seems to be only at the outset of a nice drinking window. It has a very supple mouthfeel, soft tannins and enough acid to carry the day, but the tertiary flavors are just beginning to peak out. Drink if you like lush and rich, hold for more development.
Opened along with a '90 Chambert-Marbuzet and a '95 Leoville Las Cases. The Darioush was the WOTN. It had amazing aromatics and palate impression. The fruit was very much intact with great dark fruit texture and a medium to long finish.
