  • A powerfully wine. Pnp on day one: lots of tannins first. More accessible after 1-2 hours. Now, on day 3, wonderful.
Deep dark red color, Sangiovese nose. Cherries, red currant on the palate. Nice smoothness. Long and silky finish. Strong. Tannins are smooth and silky but present. So I conclude that it’s early in the drinking window.

  • Subsequent notes on this wine from about four years ago. Deep dark reddish-purple in color with ever-so-slight slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of blackberries, dark cherries & plums with overtones of floral notes of violets & earthy/dusty notes, herbal notes of thyme, cocoa, spices, some tar, tobacco, minerals & cedar notes in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with cocoa, spices, herbs, minerals & a touch of vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing although even at 15 years of age, it should continue to develop with further aging if cellared properly.

  • First bottle from an OC. Very unusual given the hot 07 Tuscany vintage. Pnp. Dark garnet with a transparent rim Starts with a lot of wood spices on the nose, on the palate the ripeness is however very much in check unlike most other 07 Tuscans including the winery’s flagship wine Nardo. My first impression on the palate is one of a saline sea breeze (I know this is a red and not a white), later you get tobacco / leather but also vegetal notes which is unusual for Tuscany. This is complex even if the fruit does not show a lot of depth in my eyes. Initially I thought sell but as the wine evolves it seems like a keeper. Very unusual profile for an 07 Tuscan.

  • Sweet dark fruit of black cherries and blackberries, quite rich, but balanced with good acidity, some vegetal and meaty spice notes lend further interest: tobacco, herbes de provence, tar, beef jerky. Tannins are very polished. The fruit still tastes young and fresh and there are no signs yet of age. This was our last bottle, but I imagine this will hold well another 5 years. Excellent value. - 92 points
