  PHMG WAG: Oregon vs. the World (Chez Lyon in Eugene, OR): Recently acquired from the winery, this bottle had excellent depth of black cherry, blackberry, leather, spice, and oak with substantial structure and length. Biggest win of the night for Oregon vs. the Muga: 10 to 1 votes. With good provenance like this, it could improve for another 2-3 years and hold 5. 92 pts on day two also!

  Savory and gamey notes with plenty of juicy red and black fruit. Plentiful, but smooth tannins adds a nice extra dimension to the already pleasant flavors.

  May have waited too long--tannic without any fruit flavors left. Rustic with wood/earth/tar notes that were less pleasant than the same wine i had last year. Not built to last...

  Dark ruby color. No bricking at edge. Open bottle for 30 minutes. Initially a nose of cedar, but retreated to reveal fresh crushed blackberry and later cassis. Taste is dense and polished, with a roundness (but not sweetness) typical of Umpqua. Complex finish of baking spice, dried cranberries and more blackberry essence, wrapped in hints of eucalyptus. Still a bit tannic on finish, at least 5 years left. What a fantastic wine.

  pleasaant, not distinctive, pretty well balanced, a little rustic, may have lost aome character by waiting
