Needs decant and 2-3 hours air. Then the astringent tannines have softened and the wine is less acidic. Black and red fruit, elegant, but best with red meat, mushrooms, crème fraiche. Very nice and very good VfM.

The nose immediately after opening was stunning: Cherries screaming full voice, incredible... After that some herbs with a strong vanilla (oak) finish. Decanted for almost three hours, by then the fruit was gone and the oak had lost its softness. Palate followed what the nose picked up pretty much. The fruit almost disappeared after three hours. Not convinced.

The 2006 is a special vintage for this wine; not extremely powerful, but also not light and elegant. It holds the middle and is beautiful and harmonious. The bouquet shows sweet spices, vanilla, white pepper and good fruits. On the palate dark fruits, earth, mushrooms, a lot of sweet spices, beautiful acidity, good tannin and soft drying bitterness. Already a great pleasure. Early maturity and lovely now and no problem keeping this until 2018 or a bit longer.
