  • Retail $75. I bought this at the winery over a decade ago and tonight, for whatever reason, seemed like the right time to open it. OK, it was fantastic, excellent, even, but I honestly was hoping for more. But I might just be nitpicking. Quite dark in the glass with ripe black raspberry in the glass along with a rather intense mocha and just a hint of mint. That mint plays heavily on the palate as well, as does the fruit. A bit round with subtle tannins and an above-average finish.

  • The restrained, elevated nose features blackberry, blueberry, dark cocoa powder, violet, rose petal and tar. Nearly full bodied, the cool and wet vintage shows in its grainy tannin and bright acid, through the two are expertly corralled into a pleasant structure; above average amongst its peers (though not the most impressive, even compared to other Delille 2010s). Flavors include dark cherry and spiced plum, cassis, dark chocolate, and violet. Rated 91 on overall performance, but deserves 92 for the vintage. I can’t see this getting much better, but can survive at this level for another year or two.

  • Last bottle

Decanted three hours, served low 60's with moussaka

As previous notes, but in a sweet spot: can't see much improvement from here, but at least three years likely at this level

  • Nose of dark fruit and cigar.
Dark sweet fruit followed by spice, leather and cigar. There is a strong backbone here but the tannins are sweet and smooth. The acidity is somewhat noticeable but not to the point of distraction. The finish is very long, blueberry and dusty chocolate. Eight years in, this is still pretty youthful and I would think still has a long life ahead of it.

  • Nice evolution. The tannins are nicely smoothed out. The fruit is balanced with nice tertiary flavors. Don’t know how much this will improve but it should last another 10 years.
