Starting to fade a bit. If you have any 2009 in your cellar, drink it up. Upon opening, it was astringent and raisiny. Much better after decanting for 20 or 30 minutes.

PNP. Very soft and well-mannered at this point. Fruit is nice and full, but diminishing. Tannins are tucked away. Opened up quite a bit during the first glass.

cherries, little barnyard, but not much finish at first; better after 20 minutes in glass, more dust after midpalate and dryer finish - definitely worth $12

This was a 90 when I opened it and firsttasted it two hours later. The third day with proper sealing accentuated the taste of coffee, chocolate and a hint of cinnamon. I would rate this a 92+ with proper oxygen and decanting.

A dinner with Michel Tardieu (Palm restaurant, London): Grenache from Rasteau and Vacqueras both aged in old oak, and Syrah aged in new. A delicious if slightly simple wine, with sweet red fruits (cherries?) to the fore. This is a wine that deserves food, and will drink well for up to 8 years according to Michel.
