Opened this for Grace's bday, born in 2000. Little corky on the nose? Very well might be corked....but the flavors are not masked. Has dark fruit, dusty spiced tannin, and a tingly tart and sour grapefruit acidity to it. Older rustic flavors of beef, leather, mint, roasted coffee and white pepper....very tangy with the citrus acidity, which takes over in the finish, and kind of kills the finish like a sweet tart. Seems very similar to the Garys' 2000 as well. The mid-palate is the best part of this wine. Will try for a better 2000 later....

($23) This wine had an Australian-like nose of sweet oak, liqueur and caramel. Ripe, sweet, and full-bodied on the palate with monolithic red and black fruit framed in some toasty, vanilla oak notes. Not bad.

Holding up well (assuming good cellar conditions). Drank over three nights (under pump) and nice, balanced weeknight drinker.

Lush, fruit forward. Blueberry, blackberry with some good black pepper and licorice hints. Ok acidity, but a bit on the ripe side.
