Remarkably similar to my tasting note from three years ago. The only difference is just a little more development and oxidation on the nose. The palate is still quite vibrant and complex. It paired well with a variety of antipasti. It is somewhat, distantly, similar to a dry Sherry. A vino di meditazione if there ever was one.

Light amber orange. Fruity nose, tropical fruits, but with a slight dried fruit character to it. Hints of straw, not really as nutty as I was expecting. Very classy and harmonious, and a bit on the mellow side of things.

This isn't your usual run of the mill Pinot Grigio. It is clear and somewhere between orange and amber in color, with medium plus depth. The nose is clean, developed, and of medium intensity. The nose shows pretty aromas of tropical fruit (kiwi, melon), honey, toast, yeast and caramel. The palate is dry, with medium acidity and medium alcohol. Surprisingly for a white wine, however, it has some noticeable tannins. The prolonged skin contact, significant extraction and barrell ageing result in a medium plus body, medium plus flavor intensity and medium plus length on the finish. The palate shows off more tropical fruit, marzipan and honey, with a dry mineral finish. It has a rich, full mouthfeel. Drink now. This is not likely to improve with age, but it is by no means over the hill. A very remarkable Pinot Grigio which pairs well with a variety of foods which might otherwise call for a light red. The only thing I am not enamored with is the price, which is more than twice that of a good Pinot Grigio. Then again, the price is in the same range of a White Bordeaux or Southern Rhone Viognier of similar quality, so maybe I should just get over it.

Tropical fruits on the nose. Tastes like a mature chenin blanc, but with a lot more acidity, even some tannins. Very interesting.
