Served 9 wines for Easter dinner party. Couldn’t have been happier because each wine paired fantastically from appetizer to dessert while pleasing the entire crowd of wine snobs. I have left my rating for each wine below and how it was paired. I also recommend all wines on this list.
Main: Dry rubbed smoked lamb and oven roasted Greek style lamb with asparagus au gratin & roasted potatoes. 2008 Don Melchor (94pts) 2009 Luca Beso de Dante (92pts) 2009 Norton Privada (92pts) 2013 Bodegas Caro (Barons de Rothschild) Amancaya (92pts) 2009 Emiliana Coyam (91pts)
Dessert: Black bottom pecan pie NV Moutard Père et Fils Champagne Rosé (92pts) NV Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Champagne Brut (89pts)
Privada is a wine I had quite a few times in the past. When this vintage first came out I picked up the first bottle I saw in the liquor store. I’m so impressed with the way it has aged and can’t help but think it is peaking. If you have some drink it, if you can find it buy it. Either way you will be impressed and happy

Super oaked and almost bitter due to oak that has totally destroyed the fruit flavor. Medium bodied with minus acid, and medium to short length and okay finish. The bottle label says "93" which is more like a joke!

This wine has actually improved since 2012. Indeed, the average ratings for the last 12 months are better than those from 2012. The color is still a deep ruby. The nose is medium plus in intensity, with black fruit, mocha, and vanilla. The palate is dry and consistent with the nose, with medium acidity and medium (+) alcohol and tannins. It is full bodied but balanced, with medium plus flavor intensity and length. In a blind tasting, it would embarrass many wines from Bordeaux or Napa. This is a great wine for under $20, let alone at $15.

Served with barbequed spare ribs. Held up very nicely. Balanced and some complexity. Good value!
