Decanted and consumed over 2 hrs with minimal change. Meaty and earthy, with dark chocolate and spice notes on the nose and palate. Long finish with grippy tannins and spice on the finish. Dried fruit elements balance the flavor. High in alcohol, but goes undetected due to the pleasant results of aging. Me - 92, Wife - 93

Very well crafted wine. Comes out of the bottle with a medium purple red shade with a bit of "heat" coming off the nose (we drank undecanted out of magnum). The heat faded pretty quickly giving way to nice aromas of ripe strawberry, espresso, and cassis. Still very fully bodied with oak imparting a nice amount of backbone, not overdone. Secondary elements are a little more savory, a bit of roasted meat and cedar, all comes together fairly well. Definitely one for those who like the GSM central coast style. I've had some of the 2009s from this producer which were not drinking as well, so this restored my faith in the medium term age-worthiness of these wines.
