  • Purchased this year from Arroyo as part of their offering of "library wines". This wine is a dark ruby olor and has nice aromas of cherry and sandalwood. On the palate it displays cherries, casis, and currant. It displays a dry and tart finish that never recedes, making the finish thin rather than what you would expect. The wine has aged well, but I expect will only lose fruit going forward. I never tasted this wine when it was young and can not say if the dry finish was always there or not.

  • Right out of the bottle there was an abundance of cassis and cherry. Modrate sediment, ver dark with no hints of bricking. Slight tartness that came on after about a minute in the glass. The tartness never really dropped away, but after a few hours in the decantur it mellowed significantly. A very decent bottle, maybe a little past it's prime. This was not his "Winemaker's Reserve", just the normal cab which was purchased from the winery a month ago. Drank as an experiment to see how his cabs will age. Looks like it is typical for a mid to upper range Cali cab.
