We may have been underwhelmed on this one. Opened bottle and decanted 2 hours. Lots of sediment left behind. Pouring into decanter I was like wow lots of juicy berries to me raspberry blackberry. We paired up with some dry aged ribeyes done Sous vide then seared 45 sec per side on cast. Perhaps I was expecting this one to be bigger. Had a tough time standing up to the steaks. Don’t get me wrong silky smooth with a bit of earthiness and berries. We enjoyed it. But I think I should have picked a big cab or Carmenere or a Bordeaux blend like a Nota Bene. Anyways Wine was pretty solid. But I did make a pairing mistake. Oh well. It was still a nice supper and nice wine

Expressive Merlot from Quails Gate. Nose has notes black fruit, leather, cured meats, and some tobacco. The palate displays softened tannins with delicious red and black fruits. Good depth.still an intense wine and highly enjoyable.

Still tightly wound, with dark plums and tobacco on the nose. Dark plum and berries were muted by robust tannins on the initial tasting. After about 30 minutes, tannins receded a bit, allowing tobacco and dark fruits to emerge more. Some vanilla notes on the mid-palate as well. Would definitely benefit from a couple more years of cellaring.

Was nice with wine and cheese. Smooth tannins. Thinking it will smooth out more as it progresses
