(Mostly) Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Opened and decanted several hours in advance. Subtle Vosne-styled spice bit with very Vosne-style red fruit everywhere. Still a bit more firm than ideal, but this is 2005 so patience required. Almost at its peak drinking window.

Friday night Burgs (The Bristol, Chicago IL): The nose is lifted and quite pretty with dark red cherries, raspberries, vosne spices, herbs, earth notes, and a touch of licorice. There is still a very primary nature to the nose that is expected from an 05. The Medium bodied feel is demure and elegant with tart, medium+ acidity and silky, yet youthful, medium+ tannins. There is still plenty of room for this to grow and it is on a very slow aging pace. It's not just promise though as there is a real lovely perfume to it while showing off good depth.

A bit perplexing to me. Fruit bomb of sweet cherry and even some heat on the nose. Medium bright red and no bricking on the color. The mouthful is lots of bright fruit that falls off quite abruptly to dry tannins and acidic tartness. Almost like what I would have expected in a new world pinot aged with decent acidity? It’s very good but not very Burgundian to me.

This showed extremely tight, showing very little. Dark fruits and spice on the nose, very shut down. As I've found the last few bottles of Jadot I've tasted, I felt this was somewhat anonymous.
