As reliably good as a wine at this price point (sub-$15) gets, in my book. Nose shows juicy plums and raspberries with a lot of mesquite, smoky, peppery, soy glaze elements. Saucy on the palate with smooth tannins and medium-low acidity. Roasted red pepper, mesquite and anise add complexity. Fun, cheap stuff.

Further to my Note of May 25, '21: this is #3. The rich fruit nose and body with a bit of barnyard are appealing; this a reliable everyday but unusual red that pairs well with hearty meals. Glad to have more and no hurry to get through them. Solid notable+.

Harrumph. This is a wild child. Gritty and aggressive. Bramble and thorn. Hot and abrasive. A bit of open time moderates the uncontrolled persona. Consumed with spicy beef and beans. It was always vying for attention. It’s a wild ride a for a certain type of wine cowboy.

Bought 6b for 7/b from a local eclectic shop late last summer; this is #2. Dark purple; ripe syrah nose, some pepper; ripe red plums, some forest floor, somewhat rustic; good mouthfeel. One of the best everyday rich, round reds that can last for a while. Stored vertically (screwcap) in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation (see earlier posts for my 4-category, non-point rating system): This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.
