Perfumed nose with scents of dark red fruit, flowers, and herbal earthtones. The core is cherries, red licorice, raspberries and plums, with plenty of grip and racy acidity to keep it from getting flabby. Young but approachable.

Nice Cdp, a bit young with quite heavy oak. Drinkable now after giving it some air, but I would store for minimum two more years. Today’s pairing: Norwegian style meatballs with butter-steamed summer cabbage and lingonberry. Meatballs is easy in terms of wine pairing, cabbage and lingonberry make’s it a bit harder. I think the combination worked well. Power wine, but this CdP is not the most “heavy” I have tasted … not too “jammy”.
Oak, red fruit (cherry), earthy, plum. ABV: 15.8%, RS: 4 g/l TA: 3.4 g/l

Tasted after a one & 1/2 hour decant. Slightly darker than medium ruby in colour with lovely aromas of clove, floral & dried red fruit. On the palate, medium bodied tart mostly red fruit, cherry/strawberry/raspberry, spice/clove, floral/lavender, medium acidity, medium slightly angular tannins & a long finish to black pepper. Even though this wine is quite young, it is approachable now & seems very fruit pure, probably due to some of the aging in concrete. Lovely wine with excellent cellaring potential! On night #3 even nicer red fruit & floral flavour profile, excellent!

Curious to try this out as I will put a few bottles away. It was an in-your-face spicy explosion. Spiciness decreased over the next 2 hours and the wine became rich and mellow. Interesting change and an excellent wine.

WNR Winery Blend: 85% Grenache, 9% Syrah, 6 % Mourvedre The average age of the vines is 40 years, with some vines dating back to the early 1900s. All the grapes are hand harvested during multiple passes through the vines. The wine is feremented in cement tanks, lasting anywhere from 3-4 weeks; the cap is punched down and the wine is pumped over. Ageing takes place in neutral wood. The wines are neither filtered nor fined.
