Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 93.2 points

  • Seriously good stuff, right in its drinking window with some life ahead of it. Gorgeous taste, all of the Bordeaux varietals seamlessly blended together trending to the Cab-Merlot dark currants spectrum. Light on the alcohol, 13.4% as I recall. Just nice drinking stuff. Would give it a bit higher score, could have a bit more length to it, but as it is, a wonderful pleasing CA cab blend. 92-93+

  • Drinking great now, no need to wait. Held up superb over 3 days.

  • Decanted 6hrs prior to consumption.

Pours a medium ruby, getting into garnet territory. Med + aroma intensity, developing. Aromas of black cherry, currant, black plum skins (tart/sour), leather, tar, dried flowers, dried cherry, cranberry/crasins, some farmyard/bretty/earthiness, and some cedary oak notes. In the mouth, the wine is dry, med + acid, med + tannin (earthy), med alcohol, med+ body. Palate has med + intensity, with a long finish. Flavors match the nose, the wine feels like a mature BDX from a reputable house- like an older Meyney from the mid 2000's. Great on it's own, drinking quite complex, well balanced- or with food. Outstanding, and a great value (purchased for $35). Drink now, but has potential for further aging, if you want more tertiary notes. It's in a happy spot now.

Also, I must say, the 13.2% alc/vol was a relief after having a bunch of 14-15.5% reds over the holidays, the reserved, well stated BDX blend was a relief and a nice change of pace from the extended "hang-time'd" Napa cabs recently had.

  • Dark berry, cherry and caramel notes with at first hints of barnyard and hay on the nose. Earthy palate of dark fruits. Much more of a big cab style wine. We like it.

  • Nice structure with cranberry cherry flavors. This wine is built to last another 7-10 years . Great value for this classic Bordeaux blend.
