Starts out overly rocky, with that characteristic funk, but has great nose, full flavors, mouthfeel and finish. Then, after about 4 hours, the funk mellows and everything comes into balance. I preferred the Tablas at the winery, but another comparison may be necessary.

This is a pretty suave and polished rocks wine. Chocolate, coffee, beef, iron, and charcoal. There is a hint of something green, almost celery like. It reminds me of a nicer St. Joseph. I started drinking it after an hour and a half in the decanter. It has a pretty plush mouthfeel. I think it's a solid drink or hold.

Savory with blood orange, iron, olive tapenade. Still young and should develop for many years. Currently not too comples, but drinking very nicely. Excellent pairing with puttanesca pasta.

Savory expression of Syrah with a little more fruit than the Tablas clone. Really nice. Tasted side by side with the Tablas and slightly preferred this one.
