  • Nose of honey, apricot and a touch of sweet spices.

Magnificent mouthfeel, the juice is creamy with a beautiful maturity which marks a sunny vintage like 2005. We can perhaps blame it for a slight deficit of acidity but the whole is so pleasant, on a jam of apricot, almonds with a zest of wood and spices. There is a rich and exotic side to this pinot blanc, I find the Roses de Jeanne spirit as I had been excited about before before having followed up with a few bottles which had less enthused me. Beautiful finish, vinous and on exotic fruits.

Excellent, I really like La Bolorée.

  • Gorgeous champagne. I don’t like 2005 champagne but this is an exception. Still suffers from lack of acidity and mid-palate, but it’s so well made. Probably the finest mousse ever - you can’t even see in the glass (Zalto universal). Supremely elegant with very fine and broad mouthfeel. Just no finish and complexity lacking. Great job in a bad year. Rich - tastes almost blanc de noir but isn’t. Fruity but low dosage. Subtle wood tannins enhance the mouthfeel and help the ageing. Amazing and difficult to score as the pleasure is higher than technical merit. I’d rate 93-94pts but pleasure 96pts. Great with or without food - this was a quaffer with an old Cohiba. No hurry, drink to 2030

  • Honey, nutty, pear, spice and lemon. Lovely honeyed flavour, with lifting acid stretching the length, right in the zone for drinking. Great concentration and balance.

  • Stunning. I just love Bouchard more and more with every new bottle i taste. This is all about style, finesse, refinement and impeccable balance. nose is hauntingly saline with crisp green apple, citrus, dough, a hint of yest and a touch of exotic fruit which i dont usually get in the normal Chardonnay based bdb's. Palate is perfectly balanced with creamy mousse, more green apple, yellow fruit, wet slate minerality and a hint of green leaf. Totally envelopes your mouth with flavor. Smack down in its perfect drinking window now, but nothing to indicate it will not stay there for another 7 years minimum.

  • Short note, tight initially, real citrus with borderline tropical notes. Enveloped the glass, complex fruit with bright kiwi, orange rind and lemon,....elegant and light, what a pleasant surprise
