Bttle no. 151. Cork in excellent shape. Pale/med garnet, wine pale mahogany rim. Nose is reticent, with dusty earth, vegetal bitterness, some liquorice, touch of spice as it warms slightly. Medium bodied, earth, iron, but also surprising volume and a touch of savoury plum fruit, fine tannins, good acidity carries a very good length harmonious finish. Palate better than the nose suggests. Slightly old fashioned and not perhaps as good as it could be but nevertheless interesting and enjoyable.

Typical developed wine. Mushrooms soy, blackberries and other dark berries. Almost something blackcurrant-toddyish. Beeswax. Fresh herbs, eucalyptus, white pepper. Others around the table mentions tomato juice.
In the mouth fine grinded tannins. Round, delicious body. Tasted blind, and a bit difficult to place on the map, but this was my first Grands-Echezeaux. Long!
Needed a good part of air before it started giving me something. I guess this can lay down for several more years, however I'm not sure it will be any better.
50 + 5 + 13 + 16 + 9 = 93p.

Dark brown concentrated color. Nose is heavenly smooth and full of old age. I really get a lot of spiced tomato sauce on the nose here. This is wonderful! The palate is also exceptional. Long and powerful ripe and smooth wine. This bottle is perfectly aged and has no fault, and could still sleep 10 more years without any problem.
