Ruby and showing some age at the rim, this cool climate, full developed Pinot Noir has medium(+) intensity aromas of raspberries, cranberries, cherries, redcurrant, lavender, violets, cedar, game, and old leather. It’s dry, with medium(+) acidity, medium tannins and body, and 13.5% ABV. It has pronounced flavors of red berries and violets with the accompanying secondary and tertiary flavors blending in harmoniously and a medium(+) finish. This is an excellent wine and was perfect with cookout food. I wish I had a couple of more bottles.

Steep pricing perhaps (?), but this is a really solid and delicious, savory bottle of Pinot from the famous proprietor in Central Otago. Would be curious to try vineyard-specific cuvées to understand the differences between the sites.

30% Alexandra fruit. 50% Banockburn, 20% Gibbston fruit. Lots of snappy kernel notes to the nose, and just a touch flinty. More berry than cherry
