Year 3 - Super Tasting 3 of 5 - Chris does Blind Pinot Noir (Dundas, Ontario): WOW! Such complexity.....this is singular and complex all at the same time. Red flowers, savoury herbs, red fruit, sandalwood, a touch of brett, blood orange, grapefruit and orange peel. Palate is svelte......cashmere. Pure red fruit that is tart but also so pure and powerful....flowers, candied flowers, herbs, earth. Mouthful is unreal...such texture. Rosewater, sandalwood and spice dominate the transition to a long, long finish. Just awesome! Almost 98pts

Year 3 - Super Tasting 3 of 5 - Chris Does Blind Pinot Noir: Wow! And here we have the clear wine of the night. It pours a fully translucent light red with orange tinges toward the rim. The nose is haunting. The wildly complex aromas waft from the glass of smoke, grapefruit zest, blood orange, raspberry, ginger, spice drawer, gravel, incense, thyme, and mixed florals. This wine has a resemblance to Rayas in its purity and spiciness. The palate has no discernible tannin, great acid, and a long finish. An amazing, timeless wine. Apparently these have aged very slowly and I wouldn't doubt they'll live a little while longer yet. There are loads of secondary aromas, but only a hint of tertiary notes. Just a gorgeous wine. The group had been tipped off that the Comte Armand was in this tasting and they thought this might be it.

bottle, fill and cork all excellent. Great wine and a lovely expression of California pinot - nice spice and California dirt. Good acidity, balance and paired well with Thanksgiving fair.

Josh Kurek's birthday bash (Corkbuzz, New York, NY): Tasted double blind, from magnum. Lightest in color by far of the 4 wines poured. Elegant and mature. Sweet nose of spice, cola, with a little strawberry and dark cherry fruit. Elegant and perfumed. The nose had me guessing red Burgundy - first Vosne, and then Chambolle. The palate is much more austere and bony - maybe this is drying out a bit. Nice wine. Good spice and more secondary on the palate: sauvage and sous bois. Beautiful finish. Man those guys could make wine ... Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17/20.
