This was reasonable balanced, nowhere near as resplendent as other wines tonight but would be acceptable to many as a decent accompaniment to a hearty meal

(Domaine Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot La 50/50) Dark ruby color; tart red berry, black raspberry, violets, blackberry nose; tasty, silky textured, elevated rustic palate of tart berry, violets and mineral with a sense of honeycomb in the background; medium-plus finish (50/50 Grenache/Cinsault; 14% alcohol)

A little beyond its window but not feeling tired and quite a nice smooth drink. I wish I had got to it earlier.

Ripe black fruit with fun and charm, but some rustic edges on finish. Good weight. Fun overall for near-term enjoyment.

I like TWard’s RN here. Definitely rustic, and good, but I’m not ready to shout about this from the rooftops. Very solid weeknight sipper.
