Color: dark garnet red with similar tinge. Very little translucency. Nose: dark fruits, smoke, oak. Flavor: for the forward, lots of red fruit: black berry, respberry, strawberry, some pomegranate, and black licorice, followed by semi neutral oak and smoke. Decent blending of flavors into the middle, followed by a touch of heat. Not much tannin structure. Finish is mostly smooth with just a bit of green poking out from underneath everything else. Linger is a good minute or more. Medium bodied.
It seems that Cali fruit bomb red blends are rapidly becoming a dime a dozen. This one fits into the category but is one of the better ones. Perhaps the best aspect of this bottle is the lower abv relative to other Cali red blends. This brings back the intensity a bit, and allows for a bit more finesse. The price of this bottle was $20 so it's a tad bit high for what it accomplishes, but if you find this for $15-18, it's definitely worth getting a few bottles. Good to drink now or sit for a few years.
