Golden yellow. Mineral driven saline flavors. Subtle apple and lemon notes. Very good acidity. Slight off flavor at the end that detracted. Probably just the vintage. I enjoyed the wine but a couple of the people at the table thought the off flavor that lingered at the end was problematic. We had it beside a 2004 Raveneau Montee de torrnerre and a Krug 164eme which were both significantly better.

La Grande Paulée at Cabotte (Cabotte, 48 Gresham Street, London EC2V 7AY): Still quite pale looking though some copper-ish glints at the edges gave the wine it's appropriate appearance. Field mushroom maturity, supple, fresh palate, gentle pulse of power but all in excellent balance. A dash of quince like flavour in the finish. Good mature wine. Poured by Adam from Baron Wines.

Tasted at Pebble Beach Food & Wine after party. Cork was in excellent shape, no sign of premox. Astoundingly youthful, graceful, and balanced wine. Finish was seemingly endless. If I had tasted this blind, I would have guessed it no more than 5 years old; certainly not 23!

Mature, but with good complexity, mineral notes, dry citrus. Not much energetic acid but a nice progression here. 93-94

Lemon, mellowed aromatics. Resolved, sweet and creamy palate with serious intensity. Perhaps lacks balance of best bottles.
