I agree with a few of the other reviewers that this is a big, fruit-forward, jammy wine that leans more toward Aussie shiraz and not PN. While a lot of wines from the Santa Rita Hills tend toward a new world style, this one far surpasses. While delicious, it overwhelms many of the subtle nuances that we seek in our preferred Oregonian PNs. We recently tasted a smattering of 2012 PNs in Loring's tasting room, and those wines are much more on track with the PN varietal characteristics.

Agree with previous tasters that this smells like an Aussie Shiraz, and while a tasty red wine, this doesn't have much Pinot character, even when you consider Brian's style of winemaking. A bit ripe, but not a wine out of character for what Loring produces. A tough pairing with food, but I think this would work well with Duck or Salmon.

Dark purple color, smooth mouth feel, but somehow a little thin. Blackberry fruit and some forest floor/cedar-y earthiness. Tannins are very nicely integrated. A- as a nice wine, B- as a Pinot.
2/20/2017 Black fruit and some savory, mushroom goodness. Good structure, but the fruit never really materialized other than just a taste at the beginning.

Looks and smells more like a Syrah with a opaque dark cherry colour and a distinct nose of blackcherry along with some blackberry. Shows nice Pinot character on the palate with a soft smooth silky texture, nice blackcherry character and a long smooth sweet finish. Excellent, but on the heavier side for a pinot.

Still drinking quite nicely. Lot of sediment in the bottle.
