Not sure how this was in the drinking window, but definitely out of it now. Virtually no nose, and completely insipid on the palate. Something grainy and unpleasant on the finish. Can't even recommend as a cooking wine.

Decent wine, did not age particularly well last 5 plus years in the cellar. Not very aromaticly pleasant with a sour musky red fruit nose and some “pine sol” cleaner notes. Palette show slightly sweet and cloying cherry and dark raspberry fruit that lacks interest and sense of place. Very little herb and earthy flavors that say “old world” and especially chateauneuf du pape. Also, a bit sweet for my taste. On the back end of the drinking window, drink now-2020

Liquorice, tar, red currant, cranberry, dried cherry, rubber, fennel. Tight acidity. Revealed more nuance as the night wore on. Soundly made CNDP at a reasonable price.

Surprisingly, given the other appreciative ratings, this seemed thin and a bit acrid for a CNP.

2 hour decant. Bright cherry, strawberry fruit, earth, spice. Great structure and minerality. Long finish. Paired nicely with grilled ribeye, garlic mash potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts.
