This is superb. Very much in a Bordeaux style but with a unique twist from the port varietals. This is polished, elegant, restrained, and carefully made. The oak is there but not intrusive. Tannins are melty. This evolved beautifully over the course of dinner (lamb tagine), and each glass was better than the last. I would say this wine is in the zone but will likely have a long plateau. I have another ½ case of this and I look forward to seeing how it evolves over the next decade.

At the end of its plateau but nonetheless an excellent gutsy tipple in spite of the blackcurrant core becoming somewhat dominated by the spice, liquorice and charred oak elements as it starts to fade. For drinking up soon. My last (but two more recent vintages in my cellar)!

Wish I'd bought more of these. Gorgeous fruit, exceptional balance, and paired well with penne puttanesca.
