Deep purple with just the slightest tinge of bricking. Blueberry, violets, baking spice, and cedar nose. Medium bodied, blackberries, black cherries, smoke, well integrated tannins, dark chocolate, and a long satisfying finish. Better than 5 years ago, I think its entered its prime of life.
Actually, this was a 2003 and is definitely showing its age. The cork came out in pieces, but the wine itself was not 'corked'. There's some brick brown color now and after a 90 minute decant, the nose is more leather than fruit. What fruit there is black prunes/raspberries. Tannins are quite present, but not really in a bad way ... drinks dry. If you have a bottle, don't hold it any longer. The wine went very well with the filet. I only wish I had drank this a couple of years ago.
