Very interesting wine that had me thinking Jura initially. However, some tropical fruit peeks through on the palate to remind you that this is sauvignon after all. Nicely integrated acidity and a creamier mouth-feel from age. Straight rock finish!

Going Away Dinner @ Ripple (Ripple - Cleveland Park, Washington, D.C.): This definitely needs some air to blow off some alcohol aromas. Once those passed this was another very exciting bottle of sauvignon. Nice orchard fruit, with subtle banana, crushed rocks and herbs. Like the last bottle I had, this reminded me a lot of chenin blanc in its creaminess on the palate. Good stuff.

Very solid sauvignon. Tropical notes, stones, and minerals on the nose. Banana, little tropical, spice and wax on the palate. Above average finish and good mouthfeel.

Tooch's Goodbye Tasting (Ripple - Cleveland Park - Washington, DC): This is one of the most unique sauvignon blancs I've had in a very long time. The aromas are really fantastic. It started off with floral and honeysuckle aromas, and opened up to show banana peel, lamp oil and an aroma that really reminded me of soil with lots of rocks. The palate has some weight to it, with pulpy white peach fruit, and good acid. I really enjoyed the complexity and balance of this wine. It has a synthetic cork, which is a shame because I'm curious what this would taste like if it had a few more years on it.

Smokey nose with tropical fruit and some herbal tones. Palate had waxy vanilla notes that reminded me of chenin more than sauvignon. Finish was brisk, acidic and herbal. Very nice.
