I had to rewrite this. I first popped the bottle straight out of my wine cellar. It was definitely past prime. No finish, leather, and dried fruit. Fully aware that lack of heat will close a wine down. However, this seemed different, just dead. As it warmed up and it opened up in my glass. Slowly, over a period of a half hour, it fully resolved into a mature, pleasurable tasting experience. The leather and dried fruit is still there, but it’s now accompanied by blackberry in both the nose and the mouth. Fresh black cherry show up in the mid pallet. The wine is definitely fully mature, but it’s not dead. I would not decant this. Nor would I hold onto it for very long. But it still has love and it’s fully resolved, into an enjoyable and integrated CDP. I have three more bottles in my cellar, and while it’s my son’s birth year (which I usually hold), I will finish them off this month. Thank you so our tracker reviewers, I wouldn’t have tried it without your input

Very aromatic and juicy with nice heft. A bit briary for me, but this is just personal preference. Tannins are resolved but should hold for a couple more years.

A private dinner (Café Parlotte, Amsterdam, NL): In a beautiful place right now. Fragrant, honeyed nuttiness on the nose, wonderful interplay and tension between maturity and freshness, spicy depth and crushed red berry fruit, concentration and minerally energy; some liquorous cherries and plums but certainly not over the top, sandy tannins, perfect balance, elegant for its weight (14.5% ABV); slightly dry finish, but very good resonance and length. Fully mature and arguably starting to lose some weight and opulence, but I love it like this.
