  • Wish I had more of this, but alas, the last bottle. Drinking beautifully, tons of dark fruit, herbs, pepper; very round with smooth tannins and a long, plummy finish. Modestly priced and performing at its peak.

  • Drank as 3d bottle at group dinner, easily best of the three (others were Annabella merlot and Cornacchia Montepulciano). Aromas just jumping out of the glass--lots of dark fruit, spice (rosemary?), cassis; med bodied and packed with flavor, blackberry, cassis, little hints of oak and earth; nice long finish, great balance. Really a flavorful drink, went well with the last of the puttanesca.

Rockss and Fruit

  • By Lyle Fass

(Domaine Les Grand Bois Cairanne "Cuvee Maximilien") Nose of crushed berry compote, smoke, bbq sauce, minty thyme. Silky and sleek on the palate with nice complexity and fruit that approaches sweet but is not quite there. Nice mineral/acid backbone. Silky tannins.
