  • We opened a bottle on 12/31/2018. It paired well with lamb and Brussels sprouts with bacon. The menthol hints that were more prominent when we first tasted the wine at the winery about eight years ago have matured nicely and are now subtle. Great color and structure.

  • Popped and poured at restaurant, five on a bottle. Nicely matured, and drinking beautifully. After a half-hour, mint came into prominence in advance of the other florals. Lovely, complex Napa Syrah. Recommended; would drink within a year.

  • Quite different (but not necessarily better) than a bottle about ten months ago. Back then, it was a little too heavy and ponderous for my tastes. That's no longer the case, but I'd now characterize it as "weird". Although it now displays a trace of pepper, I still might not have identified it as a Syrah in a blind tasting. If anything, it struck me as a heavyweight Pinot Noir (if there is such a thing this side of Burgundy). It had a somewhat unpleasant vegetal streak that reminded me of why I don't like Pinots. Decent body and finish, but I would not buy again.

  • P & P. Dark, dark red with crimson meniscus. Blood and tart blackberries, slightly astringent. Needs food.

  • Quite dark. The nose was dominated by herbs. Dark berries and black cherries on the palate, along with herbs du Provence and a little black pepper. Quite viscous and heavy - a little too "yuge" for my tastes. Good finish. It kinda overwhelmed the BBQ with which it was paired. Probably better with lamb. I suspect it will benefit from another couple years in the bottle.
