  • Golden. Nose is of diesel and fresh apple juice. This is medium sweet and bursting with the flavour of apple juice. Bet you cant have just one glass!

  • Cork, 8.5% alc. Very pale for a 2003; makes the ‘09 Molitor wines look 20 years old!

Some sugar, tartrate crystals up the cork but no ullage. Red apple, some sweet sulphur, passionfruit, and some cut grass. Feels creamy and floral on the nose.

Palate has good weight and drive through the back palate – mouth filling and expanding. Red apple acid and flavour dominates with some slight spritz. No real sweetness; sugar is very subdued for an Auslese. Some tannins and extract define the finish along with some apple-y acid.

Opinion: Very acidic is the lasting impression. And subdued on the nose and in the mouth. Is this corked? Needs a lot of time to flesh out. This changes after another couple of days – it’s well integrated, not overly sweet, and quite expressive. Needs much time.
