This is a very interesting and big Chambolle. Big Fruit nose after the initial funk blew off. The raspberry and black cherry was very obvious at first, then the wood seems a bit to predominant but then fades back a bit. After things settle down and the earthy forest floor and mushroom, start to come into play. The strange spices started popping up, anise, a touch of clove and cinnamon. A decent finish, but not tremendously long but the acids and tannin are there, and this is a nice representation of a village wine, though the ABV is a little like an '03, but with more time, things might just get more focused and integrated at the same time. Excellent.

I don't like to add second tasting notes so soon, but here I feel the need, because my previous 90 score does not seem fair. Maybe I was in the wrong mood, or maybe it is a small but significant bottle difference, but this second bottle really hit the right spot. Subtle, delicate but robust, much more complex (or so it seems...) than the previous bottle, definitely has that backbone I wondered about earlier. All around superb bottle of wine.
opened 4 hours ago - here is the progression first 30minutes - funky nasty smell 30-60min - funk starts to blow off, nose of stinky cheese and socks 60min - 120min - funk starts to integrate into the wine, fruit starts to even out 120min-240 min - wine develops wonderfully. great nose of a burgundy in the early stages of aging. great acidity on the finish. fruit has mellowed but is still very present. I'd give this wine 3-5 years until it hits its stride.

Light ruby-red color. Medium body. Classic Burgundy nose and palate: red cherries and red berries. Rather simple, though; not much complexity. Soft, supple, silky texture; almost too soft, it needs a little more backbone to it. Tasty, enjoyable wine, very easy to drink, but it lacks a certain excitement.

Youthful dark red with some purple highlights. Warm floral aromatics with good intensity showing frambroise and strawberry fruit. A punchy attack of ripe red fruits introduce elegant light-medium weight tangy flavors that persist onto the finish. Very Chambolle, showing good fruit!
