WineBerserkers dinner (Chicago, IL): #12-02, 7.5% abv. This I quite liked -- it's a classic old school Fritz Haag with a lovely, intense blend of minerals and fruit. More white than yellow, with a freshness that belies its age. Not as thick and intense on the palate as I would have expected, but plenty of verve and electricity.

#12-02, 7.5% abv. A ripe and reasonably mature Auslese, full in body but not heavy at all. This doesn't have the same mineral/acid cut as the Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr GKA from the same vintage, but instead this is a little more meditative and delicate. A moderate amount of botrytis with predominantly sweet apple notes. On the palate, this is not too sweet, but is very much balanced between all the separate elements. Truly excellent stuff.

Lovely nose of citrus, pineapple, floral, very nice nose, flavors more in the citrus spectrum but also get star fruit, some pineapple on the finish, excellent acidity medium long finish, words can’t describe this. Light golden color, feel like this is still a baby, an excellent bottle will save done for day 2 if I can keep my hands off it.
Day 2 this wine hasn’t budged much, still very youthful, mouthfeel is a bit nicer maybe, excellent still.

Complete auslese. Electric acid, fruit, and spice. Pure mosel profile. Fritz Haag crushed 2001.

Albert's birthday. Remarkably sleek and balanced for such a ripe wine. Real class. Drinking beautifully but will for some time. Drink or Hold.
